Melting point
The temperature at which solid melt to liquid at atmospheric pressure.
Melting process also known as fusion.
Letent heat of fusion
The amount of heat required to change 1 kg solid to it's liquid state,at it's melting point and at atmospheric pressure.
Boiling point
The temperature at which a liquid start boiling and form vapours at atmospheric pressure.
Letent heat of the vaporisation
The amount of heat required to change 1kg liquid to its gaseous state, at its boiling point at atmospheric pressure.
Temperature does not rise because heat used over the force of attraction between particles of matter.
Sublimation
The change of solid directly into gas or gas into solid, it is known as sublimation. example- dry carbon dioxide, ammonium chloride, camphur.
